Adding Recessed Lighting To Your Home

Looking to brighten up a room in your house?  Try recessed lighting.  Not only will you be able to light up an entire room, but you can spotlight the areas that may need extra light.  Recessed lighting is great at highlighting artwork you may want showcased.  It is also great above an area you use for reading, thus reducing eye strain.

Recessed lighting is by definition, light fixtures that recess into the ceiling.  No part of the fixture is displayed.  Fixtures consist of the trim, lamp and housing.  The choice of trim will effect the kind of light produced.  These fixtures are mounted above the ceiling which gives it a flush look.  Recessed lighting fixtures are very economical.  You can use halogen or incandescent bulbs.

Recessed lighting is very helpful in the kitchen because most work is performed on kitchen counter tops.  They are also great for the living room.  Often times we decorate this room with table and floor lamps, but they actually provide little light by themselves.  Adding recessed lighting to the room will make it bright enough but not take away the effect of the decorative lamps.

If you’re in the process of remodeling a room, place your recessed lighting on dimmer switches.  It will provide a dramatic effect.
